Etude Sanremo promenade

This extraordinarily atmospheric oil landscape serves as a brilliant exploratory study, radiating the breathtaking spontaneity and sensory richness of an absolute en plein air creation. Remarkably, while the canvas powerfully mimics the vivid freshness of being painted directly on the sun-drenched shores of Sanremo, it is actually a masterful product of pure artistic imagination and artistic empathy. Commissioned by a client, the artwork was meticulously developed from their personal descriptions, woven together with the artist's imaginative interpretation and a deep reverence for classical masters who famously captured the southern coastlines of the Mediterranean Sea. The scene transports the viewer to a tranquil promenade at dusk, where the gentle curve of the coast meets a glittering necklace of distant city lights reflecting across the calm, lilac-tinted waters under a soft evening moon. The composition masterfully balances the heavy, expressive dark silhouettes of Mediterranean trees on the right with the expansive, light-filled sky and water on the left. Executed with bold, spontaneous, and highly pastose brushstrokes, the study embodies the finest qualities of modern impressionism. The color temperature is a sophisticated symphony of transitions: a tender, pastel sky blushing with soft pinks, lavenders, and cool turquoises seamlessly harmonizes with the vibrant golden and ochre sparks of the coastal town's evening illumination. The rich, visible texture of the impasto technique infuses the canvas with a palpable tactile energy, preserving the crisp breeze of an Italian evening. Created from a pure heart, this glowing masterpiece serves as an inspiring window into a dreamlike reality, designed to bring a majestic, serene, and deeply comforting coastal presence to any contemporary space.
